Xi’an sights by priority

These eight city visits can be combined by area. Lintong, the Qin-Han branch and Huashan need separate out-and-back decisions below.

For two full sightseeing days, protect Lintong if the army is your reason to come, then choose either an old-city or southern-city combination. A third full day allows both city areas.

How long, and what goes together

Three hotel nights usually leave two complete sightseeing days: use one for the Terracotta Army and Lishan Garden in Lintong, then choose the old city or the southern museums. Four nights can create a third full day for the other city area; using that extra day for Huashan means giving up the additional city visit. Two nights work only when the actual arrival and departure preserve both full days.

Same-day city combinations

• #4 Beilin → #1 City Wall: allow roughly 4–5 hours; Shuyuanmen connects the museum with Yongning Gate on foot. A timed Beilin entry and the Wall gate window determine the order.
• #1 City Wall → #2 Bell and Drum Towers / Beiyuanmen: allow roughly 4–6 hours with a seated meal; return from Yongning Gate by Line 2 or a taxi when the wall walk consumes the legwork. Tower interiors need their own entry, so keep the exteriors if time shrinks.
• #3 Shaanxi History Museum → #6 Giant Wild Goose Pagoda: allow roughly 5–7 hours including lunch and the move to Dayanta. The booked museum session fixes the order; the public square remains useful if temple access or stamina runs short.

With one fewer city block, keep the booked main museum or Beilin and drop a second indoor visit; do the Wall and food lanes outside that reservation. Lintong and other day trips need a complete departure and return plan instead of being squeezed into these same-day city combinations.

Choose nights from actual arrival and departure

Three nights / two full days: Lintong plus one city combination. Four nights / three full days: Lintong, old city and southern city, or replace one city day with Huashan. Keep the final short walk near the hotel and the exact departure station; an early train or late flight changes how many complete sightseeing days you really have.

Book the visits that actually constrain the trip

1. Choose your arrival, departure and hotel area, keeping a complete Lintong block if the army is a priority.
2. Book the Terracotta Army through the museum’s official site or official WeChat, using each traveller’s passport.
3. For the Shaanxi History Museum main building, prepare visitor profiles for the official five-days-ahead 17:00 release and require a successful order; bring the booking passport. Its Qin-Han branch and Xi’an Museum have separate entry rules. The museum’s dated holiday notice can change hours or branch reservations.
4. For Beilin, use the timed official purchase for the visit date and read the full adult amount on that order before paying. The old museum fare link is unavailable; do not rely on a cached CNY 85 or CNY 42 figure or assume a concession applies to a foreign passport. If the form rejects the document, call 029-87253331 before fixing this visit.
5. Add Huashan or a Huaqing evening performance only when their exact transport and return arrangements fit.

Street walks and tower exteriors leave useful flexibility. For budgeting, separate attraction admission, optional exhibitions or climbs, local transport, food and hotel costs. The retained adult references for the City Wall and Terracotta Army total CNY 174 before any other costs; other admission, transport, meals and hotels cost extra. Stay beside the city you want to use in the evenings

Bell Tower or Yongning Gate for a mixed first visit

Choose the old-city centre when food streets, the Wall and flexible evenings matter most. Bell Tower (钟楼) puts you near the northern food-street approach; Yongning Gate puts you at the south wall and Shuyuanmen side. These are different metro stops and hotel approaches, so locate the actual entrance rather than booking the district name.

Novotel Xian The Bell Tower · 西安钟楼诺富特酒店, 16 Anban Street (案板街16号), is a concrete central option to compare. Its official page places its main entrance toward Bell Tower Station Exit H. Accor lists the Bell Tower metro station as 400 metres or about four minutes’ walk from the property; treat that as the hotel’s estimate, and request a suitable room and the usable station exit for your arrival.

Dayanta / Xiaozhai for museums, temple visits and a southern evening

This base fits the southern combination without requiring a return across town after dinner. The tradeoff is a transfer to the Wall and Muslim Quarter. The Westin Xi’an · 西安威斯汀大酒店, 66 Ci En Road (慈恩路66号), is the existing named Dayanta example and a full-service option; its official page names Dayanta on Lines 3/4 as a nearby metro station and states that no airport shuttle is provided. From Dayanta, follow the hotel’s current map pin to 慈恩路66号; Marriott names the station but gives no station-to-door walk time, so use the exact entrance and allow a walking buffer.

Compare live room prices, room types and cancellation for your party. The hotel pages establish identity and location; ask the chosen property about your passport, arrival time and step-free access. A Xi’an North or airport hotel is useful when a very early departure dominates one night; it is a weaker base for the whole city stay.

Arrive in Xi’an and move between the areas

XIY airport: use the terminal in the airline record and the actual airport signs. The reviewed metro topology has Airport West serving T1/T2/T3 and Airport (T5) on Line 14. For Dayanta, the worked route is Line 14 to Shuangzhai, then Line 3 to Dayanta. For Bell Tower or Yongning Gate, stay on Line 14 to Xi’an North (西安北站), change to Line 2 and finish at Zhonglou (钟楼) or Yongningmen (永宁门) before the hotel street leg. At T5, the airport metro access notice directs arrivals toward the basement Line 14 station; at any terminal, follow the terminal signs and leave a useful Line 14 connection.

With late arrival, substantial luggage or an unsuitable station walk, use the airport’s official taxi queue or a prearranged hotel car and show the exact Chinese hotel address. No fixed fare or last-airport-bus promise is made here. The city transport authority’s metro information is the network reference; use its dated service hours and fares for the journey.

Rail arrival: read the full Chinese station on the issued ticket. From Xi’an North (西安北站), the station district lists Lines 2, 4 and 14; Line 2 reaches Bell Tower (钟楼) or Yongning Gate (永宁门), then use the hotel’s Chinese street address for the final exit and walk. Xi’an Station (西安站) is served by Line 4; plan the transfer from the hotel pin and 西安站. Xi’an East (西安东站) opened on 30 June 2026 with Line 5 access; the city’s opening report estimates about five minutes on foot from the rail exit to the metro. A Bell Tower base can use Line 5 to Nanshaomen (南稍门), change to Line 2 toward Bell Tower, then finish at the named hotel entrance. Leave enough time for the day’s last connection and usable exits before rail departure; use the authorised taxi queue when the last leg cannot be completed.

Move between areas without losing the day

Walk within one old-city area; use the metro or an authorised taxi for the southern museums and longer cross-city links. Search the Chinese station and venue name before boarding. The fare, payment option, exit and service span belong to the journey on your date, so use the transport authority’s dated metro tool for the whole transfer. Street-level walking, crossings and the final hotel entrance add to the train ride. For a low-walking day, select one museum and a short exterior view, with a taxi between them; the Wall top and Huashan involve substantial steps.

For Lintong, the metro ends before the museum: Line 9 to Huaqingchi needs an operating 613/602 bus or an agreed car for the last road leg. Keep a return to the same city hotel before buying an evening show. If a station change or last bus fails, stop adding sights and use the staffed official taxi area or a hotel-arranged pickup.

Three different scales of Xi’an

The city walls enclose a compact historical centre, while ancient Chang’an extended far beyond them. The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda and the main Shaanxi History Museum are south of the walled city. The Terracotta Army is farther east in Lintong; Huashan is a different destination beyond that.

The old city: above the wall, then back into the lanes

1. Xi’an City Wall · 西安城墙

From the top, look along the repeating battlements and watch how the gates organise the streets below. The contrast between the broad defensive platform and the buildings around it is the point of the visit. Yongning Gate (永宁门, South Gate) is a useful starting place for a first visit because it also connects with the southern old-city streets.

• Hours: The wall operator’s homepage lists South Gate 08:00–22:00. Other gates and last admission can differ; ask 029-87272792 about the ascent you will use.
• Tickets: CNY 54 full adult admission under the city’s stated fare; cycle hire is separate.
• Time: Allow 1–2 hours for one wall section; a full circuit requires more.
• Address: 西安城墙（永宁门南口登城口）· 陕西省西安市碑林区永宁门（南门）南口。
• Getting there: Metro Line 2 to 永宁门; follow the south-gate ascent signs rather than a generic wall map pin.
• How to visit: Climb at 永宁门南口 → walk a chosen stretch above the south wall → return through the gate toward 书院门.

Allow a short walk out and back if you want the architecture and city views. Cycling suits someone who wants a longer continuous section, but it adds a rental decision and a return obligation; one section gives the essential wall view. In hot or wet weather, shorten the exposed section and spend longer in the lanes or a museum. Choose an operating ascent and exit at purchase.

The city’s full adult admission is CNY 54. The local authority reports overseas-card acceptance at 12 gate ticket windows, with payment and opening arrangements varying by window. Use the published fare and card-window notice; the operator answers gate arrangements on +86 29 87272792.

4. Beilin Museum + Shuyuanmen · 西安碑林博物馆与书院门

Turn east inside the South Gate for Shuyuanmen’s shops selling brushes, paper, seals and calligraphy. Browsing makes a good bridge between the wall and Beilin; a printed souvenir rubbing is a different purchase from an original artwork, so ask what you are buying before paying.

• Hours: The museum’s September 2026 extension runs 08:30–19:00 with ticket checks ending 17:30 through 30 September. Its normal-hours notice lists 09:00–18:30 and 17:00 last ticket sale; use the visit-date booking notice for October and later.
• Tickets: Paid timed admission via the museum’s official channels. Confirm the amount and passport path in the actual order or by calling 029-87253331; the older fare link is unavailable.
• Time: Allow 2–3 hours for selected galleries and the calligraphy lane.
• Address: 西安碑林博物馆（主入口）· 陕西省西安市碑林区三学街15号。
• Getting there: Metro Line 2 to 永宁门; enter the old city, then walk through 书院门 to 三学街15号.
• How to visit: Museum entrance → chosen inscriptions and stone sculpture → 书院门 shops → Yongning Gate or your hotel. Choose the old rooms or the north galleries and the correct gate →

Beilin rewards slower looking. Rows of stone inscriptions preserve writing in a material that outlasts paper; compare the balance and movement of the characters even if you cannot read them. Stone sculpture provides a second way into the collection. If calligraphy is a main interest, seek an explanation of a few selected inscriptions instead of trying to read every slab. The city’s collection introduction describes the steles and stone carvings; current operational fields instead come from the museum’s own visitor page.

The museum’s normal-hours and reservation notice names its official WeChat, Alipay and website channels and a five-day advance window; it does not confirm a foreign-passport online purchase. The old fare notice is unavailable at its original link. Use the date-specific order amount, or call 029-87253331 about price, passport entry and a staffed purchase before fixing the visit.

2. Bell and Drum Towers + Beiyuanmen · 钟鼓楼与北院门

The Bell Tower is the old centre’s conspicuous traffic-island landmark; the Drum Tower sits beside the approach to Beiyuanmen’s food streets. Seeing both exteriors gives you the city’s central pair without paying for two tower interiors. Go inside one if its architecture and exhibitions interest you, and use the dated programme when buying a performance.

• Hours: The city museum register lists 09:00–17:30 for interiors; the 2026 holiday notice extends entry to 21:00 on 25–27 September and 1–7 October. Exteriors and lanes make a flexible walk.
• Tickets: Exteriors and Beiyuanmen are free to walk; tower interiors use paid entry. For the named September–October 2026 holidays, the museum notice releases tickets three days ahead.
• Time: Allow 2–3 hours with a meal; choose one interior for a longer stop.
• Address: 钟楼（地下通道入口）· 西安市城内东西南北四条大街交会处；鼓楼（北院门南口）· 西安市莲湖区西大街北院门南口。
• Getting there: Metro Line 2 to 钟楼; use the signed underpass for the tower, then the pedestrian crossing toward 鼓楼 and 北院门.
• How to visit: Bell Tower exterior → Drum Tower exterior or chosen interior → 北院门 meal → quieter 化觉巷 if time remains.

Continue behind the Drum Tower into Beiyuanmen (北院门), then choose a lane such as Huajue Lane (化觉巷) rather than treating the whole quarter as one food stall queue. The Great Mosque is a different experience: a sequence of courtyards, timber roofs and Islamic calligraphy within this neighbourhood. Follow the entrance’s visiting boundary, avoid interrupting worship and ask before photographing people or entering a prayer space.

7. Great Mosque · 化觉巷清真大寺

Enter for the sequence of sheltered courtyards, timber roofs and Islamic calligraphy, a quieter change from the food lanes. Choose the courtyard visit if the architecture and living religious setting interest you. Ask the entrance staff which courtyards and rooms are open to visitors that day, and respect worship and photography instructions.

• Hours: Ask about the visitor window before making this a fixed stop. The city profile lists +86 29 87272541; its 2019 hours are an older reference.
• Tickets: Ask the entrance staff which courtyard ticket and adult amount apply to your visit; the city’s 2019 fare is an older reference. The street exterior needs no ticket.
• Time: Allow about one hour for the open courtyards.
• Address: 化觉巷清真大寺（化觉巷入口）· 陕西省西安市莲湖区北院门化觉巷30号。
• Getting there: Metro Line 2 to 钟楼; pass 鼓楼 into 北院门, then turn into 化觉巷.
• How to visit: Huajue Lane entrance → visitor courtyards → exit by the same gate; leave prayer and photography boundaries to the site staff.

3. Shaanxi History Museum main building · 陕西历史博物馆本馆

Choose the Xiaozhai main building for a broad archaeological story of Shaanxi, from early objects through the imperial eras. Reserve the actual main building and leave time for a few galleries; the Qin-Han branch is a different journey and collection focus.

• Hours: The current museum guide lists 08:30–19:00 with 18:00 last ticket validation from 6 May to 14 November 2026; the city register gives Monday closure except public holidays. Dated holiday notices can extend the window.
• Tickets: Basic exhibition entry is free with a successful order; named special exhibitions charge separately.
• Time: Allow 2–3 hours inside after entry.
• Address: 陕西历史博物馆本馆（本馆入口）· 陕西省西安市雁塔区小寨东路91号。
• Getting there: Metro Lines 2/3 to 小寨; the museum lists a 778-metre station-to-venue approach.
• How to visit: Present the successful passport order → follow the three basic galleries → add a paid special exhibition only if booked → leave toward Dayanta or Xiaozhai.

5. Xi’an Museum + Small Wild Goose Pagoda · 西安博物院与小雁塔

This compact alternative combines city-history displays with a Tang pagoda setting. Choose it when you want both indoor objects and a calm outdoor pause near the old city’s south side; its reservation is separate from Shaanxi History Museum.

• Hours: The city museum register lists 09:00–17:00 and Tuesday closure except holidays; the museum’s dated notice controls extended holiday entry.
• Tickets: General admission is free with the museum’s own reserved entry.
• Time: Allow 2–3 hours for galleries and grounds.
• Address: 西安博物院（北门）· 陕西省西安市碑林区友谊西路72号。
• Getting there: Metro Line 2 to 南稍门; follow the museum’s north-gate address rather than Shaanxi History Museum’s Xiaozhai pin.
• How to visit: Use the museum’s successful reservation and passport at its manual counter → view the city displays → walk the Small Wild Goose Pagoda grounds → return toward 南稍门.

Three museums with different reasons to visit

A failed main-museum booking leaves a city alternative. Choose Xi’an Museum if the pagoda-and-city combination appeals and you can secure its reservation; choose Qin-Han if its subject justifies the journey. The museum ticket guide handles passport entry, order proof and the differing cancellation rules.

For the main Shaanxi History Museum, its current visitor guide releases basic-entry orders five days ahead at 17:00. Only a successful order grants entry, use the same original passport at entry and observe the assigned session. The Qin-Han branch has different entry rules. The 20 September 2026 holiday notice extends main-building hours on 25–27 September and 1–7 October, while allowing document-based entry without reservation at Qin-Han on those dates; apply that notice only to its named dates and branch.

6. Giant Wild Goose Pagoda + Da Ci’en Temple · 大雁塔与大慈恩寺

The pagoda makes more sense as part of the story of Xuanzang and Buddhist scripture translation than as one more tower to climb. From the square, notice its tapering brick profile; entering the temple changes the visit from a distant landmark view to courtyards around that structure. The city’s heritage account explains the connection with Xuanzang and the Tang capital.

• Hours: The public square and the temple interior are different visits; the temple gate supplies the current admission window. The city visitor page gives location and visitor contact.
• Tickets: The public square needs no temple ticket; the temple and pagoda climb are separately ticketed.
• Time: Allow 1–2 hours for a chosen square or temple visit.
• Address: 大慈恩寺（山门）· 陕西省西安市雁塔区雁塔路南端。
• Getting there: Metro Lines 3/4 to 大雁塔; follow signs toward the temple gate at the pagoda square.
• How to visit: View the pagoda from the square → enter the temple courtyards if chosen → climb only with its own ticket → leave toward the southern pedestrian area.

The public squares, temple grounds and pagoda interior are different visits. Decide which you want before buying; use each area’s own access and ticket. Spend the afternoon at a chosen museum, then use Dayanta for a shorter temple visit or an exterior walk and dinner.

Dayanta after dark, Tang Paradise and Daming Palace

The pedestrian area south of the pagoda, commonly called Datang Everbright City (大唐不夜城), is a modern Tang-inspired entertainment district. Choose it for lights, people-watching and a busier evening than the temple grounds.

Tang Paradise · 大唐芙蓉园 is a separate landscaped cultural attraction; choose it for gardens and designed spectacle, with its own ticket and programme, rather than adding it automatically after the public evening street. Daming Palace National Heritage Park (大明宫国家遗址公园), north of the old city, is the more spacious alternative for understanding the scale of a former palace site. Neither should displace the museum you came to see merely to complete a list.

North of the old city

8. Daming Palace National Heritage Park · 大明宫国家遗址公园

Choose Daming Palace for the scale of a former Tang political centre: the Danfeng Gate remains and Hanyuan Hall foundations explain more than a reconstructed facade would. It takes a separate city block and rewards travellers interested in archaeology and spatial history; those seeking intact imperial rooms will get a different experience.

• Hours: The city museum register lists the Danfengmen museum at 09:30–18:00; the wider park and other paid areas have their own visitor windows.
• Tickets: The wider public park and paid remains area serve different visits; buy the heritage-area ticket for the archaeological displays.
• Time: Allow 2–3 hours for Danfeng Gate, the axial remains and a museum stop.
• Address: 大明宫国家遗址公园（丹凤门入口）· 陕西省西安市新城区自强东路585号。
• Getting there: Metro Line 4 to 西安站; use the signed crossing to the Danfeng Gate entrance on 自强东路.
• How to visit: 丹凤门 → 含元殿遗址 → selected paid archaeological display → return to the south entrance. The park’s full north–south axis takes longer.

Day trips from Xi’an

Start with Lintong if the Qin emperor’s archaeology is the reason for your visit. Leave from your actual city hotel for the Terracotta Army, use the museum shuttle for Lishan Garden, then return to the same hotel by an operating bus-and-metro chain or agreed car; allow a complete hotel-to-hotel day. The Lintong details below separate that two-site ticket from a Huaqing Palace visit or evening performance.

Choose the Qin-Han museum branch for its focused galleries only if a long transfer to Xixian New Area earns its place over the main museum. The Dayanta-to-Qingong return provides the station chain and fallback. Choose Huashan when steep mountain walking is a main purpose and you can secure both the mountain descent and return rail; allow a full day or stay near the mountain. Compare its route shapes below. Lintong: make time for the full archaeological site

Terracotta Army · 秦始皇帝陵博物院

Start with the scale of Pit 1: the long ranks of life-size soldiers and horses belong to a planned army with distinct roles. Then change your attention. Look for differences in dress, posture and military role, and for the contrast between reconstructed figures and areas still revealing the archaeological process. Pit 2 helps explain the mixture of archers, cavalry and chariots; the much smaller Pit 3 is interpreted as a command area. These are distinct parts of the same visit.

The other part of the museum is Lishan Garden (丽山园), linked by the museum shuttle. Its mausoleum landscape, additional burial pits and Bronze Chariots Museum extend the story beyond the famous army hall. The museum’s site directory separates the two areas. Choose both for an archaeology-focused day; prioritise the army halls if your time or stamina is limited.

The retained adult ticket reference is CNY 120 for both sites. The museum suggests about 1.5 hours per site; allow additional time for transfers, queues and a meal. Its season table lists 17:00 as the last ticket validation from 16 March to 15 November and 16:30 from 16 November to 15 March, subject to a dated holiday notice. Book a timed entry using the same passport you will carry, then use the two-site ticket and arrival guide. Foreign-child concession wording conflicts across official channels; budget the adult fare until the museum resolves the individual case.

Transport from central Xi’an to Lintong

The museum’s public-transport page lists two chains. From a Dayanta base, Line 3 reaches Tonghuamen (通化门): Exit D, the published approach to Qinfeng departure field, then the scenic direct bus. Alternatively, travel via Fangzhicheng and Line 9 to Huaqingchi (华清池), then the listed 613/602 connection. Both require a road leg; there is no metro stop at the pits. Arrange an operating outward service and usable return before setting off. With a party, luggage or limited stamina, price a licensed return car against the transfers rather than only comparing single fares.

Huaqing Palace · 华清宫

Huaqing Palace and its Song of Everlasting Sorrow production introduce the Lintong palace story and its association with Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei. It is a separate visit from the tomb museum, even though both sit on the same side of Xi’an. Choose a daytime palace visit or the separately scheduled Song of Everlasting Sorrow performance (长恨歌) because that subject interests you. An evening show requires its own dated ticket and a late return; the Terracotta ticket covers neither. On a first visit, the two archaeological areas already make a substantial day.

Make a meal part of the visit

In the Muslim Quarter, try a seated meal before another round of snacks. Yangrou paomo (羊肉泡馍) is bread broken into a mutton soup; ask whether you crumble the bread yourself. Roujiamo (肉夹馍) is meat in a flatbread, with fillings that vary by vendor, so specify the meat rather than assuming every version is the same. Biangbiang noodles and liangpi (凉皮, cold noodles) offer a different noodle meal; ask for less chilli before preparation if needed.

For a named option in Beiyuanmen, Jiasan Soup Dumplings · 贾三灌汤包 appears in the city’s March 2026 local-food account. Choose it if you want dumplings as a sit-down stop near the Drum Tower; use the current branch pin and menu for this meal. The same account describes persimmon cakes as another local snack.

Hui food culture is part of the neighbourhood, but halal suitability depends on each establishment’s ingredients and practice; ask the vendor for your requirements. Vegetarian diners should also ask about meat stock and animal fat.

Huashan is a mountain trip of its own

Huashan (华山) trades galleries and city streets for steep granite, cliff edges and ridgeline walking. Cableways shorten the ascent; stairs remain between peaks. Choose it if the mountain is a priority and you can devote a full day, or stay near the mountain when an early start and slower return are worth another hotel move.

Choose the shape of the day before the ticket bundle

• West Peak up and down: concentrates the visit on the high summit area and avoids committing to a traverse to North Peak. It still involves mountain walking; choose which peaks to include according to the return margin.
• West Peak up, North Peak down: makes a through-route, with a longer sequence of paths and steps and different road transfers at the two ends.
• North Peak return: can be a more contained North Peak visit. It covers a smaller summit area than a West-to-North traverse.

These route shapes require dated cableway and connecting-bus choices. Detailed operator route pages were unavailable on 26 September 2026; current lift hours, payment and road connections remain open. Use the Huashan official visitor and ticket portal or +86 913 8376888 / 8375999 for admission, the chosen up/down cableways, their connecting buses and the last descent. Read your rail ticket for Huashan North (华山北站), arrange the station-to-visitor-centre leg and retain a return-train margin.

Hukou Waterfall (壶口瀑布) requires a separate road itinerary after any Xi’an–Yan’an train. Keep it outside a short Xi’an stay unless you have deliberately planned that longer extension.

Leave from the station on your ticket

Xi’an North (西安北站), Xi’an Station (西安站) and Xi’an East (西安东站) are three different rail terminals. Xi’an East opened to passengers on 30 June 2026; the city’s opening report describes its connection to Metro Line 5. A 4 July report quoting the rail operator documents the Metro Line 5 station opening on 30 June. At Xi’an East, follow the signed interchange to Line 5 and use the day’s service span; for a Bell Tower hotel, plan the Line 5 to Line 2 interchange and the final hotel entrance, or take an authorised station taxi if the connection no longer works. Use the full issued station name for Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu or any other rail destination, then allow the hotel-to-station journey. For flights, use the XIY terminal in the airline record. Keep the final local outing close to the hotel or departure route.

Qin-Han visit: a worked return from Dayanta

From the worked Dayanta base: Dayanta (大雁塔) → Line 3 → Shuangzhai (双寨) → Line 14 → Qingong (秦宫). Follow the museum signs from Qingong to the Qin-Han branch on eastern Lanchi Third Road (兰池三路东段). The museum publishes a station distance of 666 metres; the route still needs a suitable exit and final walk.

Use this planning block: leave the hotel around 09:00, allow the morning for the transfer, and hold roughly 11:00–15:00 for the visit and lunch. These are editorial allowances; actual metro journeys and reservation slots differ. For 6 May–14 November 2026, official entry ends at 17:00 and the branch closes at 18:00.

Return on the same chain: Qingong → Line 14 → Shuangzhai → Line 3 → Dayanta → hotel. Start the return around 15:00 in this plan; leave a margin ahead of last service. A hotel-arranged car to and from 陕西历史博物馆秦汉馆 is the alternative when the transfer or station walk is unsuitable; agree both endpoints, return pickup and total with the provider before leaving.

Keep the City Wall for a city block. Move it to the arrival evening or an extra night. If the museum is closed or the return cannot be secured, keep the day around the Dayanta hotel: a short out-and-back on the public Giant Wild Goose Pagoda square, a seated lunch and a hotel break. Temple and pagoda interiors are separate optional tickets.

The transport authority’s metro map page supports the network reference; confirm the actual rail time, fare, usable Qingong exit and final walk before committing to this transfer.

Adapt the trip to your interests

Archaeology first: protect the two Lintong sites and choose the main history museum or Qin-Han by subject. City life first: keep the Wall, a food-street meal and the mosque or Beilin; a pagoda visit can replace another museum. Mountains first: add Huashan by removing a whole city day or adding a night, with a whole day clear of Lintong.

If one booking or journey fails

No successful museum order means no reserved entry. Choose another venue for its own merits; buy museum entry only through its official channels. Cancel any unused order promptly because Shaanxi History Museum’s Chinese and English no-show notices disagree. If the Lintong bus or return is unavailable, ask museum staff on 029-81399174 about the operating connection or arrange a licensed car. If a departure margin shrinks, remove the final attraction.
