The readiness checklist is saved in your own browser.

If you tick items on the readiness checklist, those ticks are written to your browser's local storage so the list survives a reload. Those ticks stay on your device and are never sent to us. Your analytics choice and, for editors, an internal-visit exclusion are also saved in browser storage. Clearing site data removes these settings; a different browser or private window has its own settings.

Page views and how visitors find the site.

If Google Analytics is connected, a choice appears below. Allowing it lets Google set analytics cookies and process usage data such as pages viewed, referral source, campaign tags and browser or device information. Google receives network information when your browser contacts its service. These are usage measurements, not a count guaranteed to contain only people.

We send page views for published site pages, not sitemap, robots, API, prefetch or RSC requests. Our page-view URLs omit guide-search text and other arbitrary query parameters, while preserving campaign attribution. Marked internal browsers and identifiable automated browsers are excluded from our site measurements. The hosting platform's own request statistics are separate and are not changed by this setting.

Advertising storage, advertising personalisation and Google signals are disabled in our tag. When analytics is available, use Analytics preferences at the bottom of any page to change your choice. Declining stops subsequent collection; it does not erase measurements already received. Read Google's privacy policy.

Which steps get seen and used, counted by day.

Some pages carry a next-step action. Two things about it are counted, and one of them does not require you to do anything: if such an action scrolls into view and stays at least half visible for a second, that counts as seen. If you then use it, that counts too. This is how we tell which steps travellers actually reach and which ones get used once reached.

Each count carries a fixed set of fields and nothing else: which page and action it belongs to, whether it was seen or used, the layout shown, plus the date and the version of this site when we receive the count. There is no IP address, no identifier for you or your device, no search term and no free text anywhere in it.

Nothing is stored event by event. Each one is added to a daily counter, so what exists is a number per action per day. When a new count is written, day-counters older than 90 days are deleted in the same operation — meaning old counts clear out as the site is used, and if nothing were recorded for a long stretch they would sit there until the next one arrived.

Your search term travels in the address bar.

The guide search box submits your term as part of the page address. We do not store it, but — like any web address — it will appear in your own browser history and may appear in the hosting platform's standard server logs. Do not type passport numbers, booking references or personal details into it.

Standard server logs we do not control.

This site is served by a third-party hosting platform. Like almost all web hosts, it may keep standard server logs — IP address, time of request, page requested, browser user agent — for operational and security purposes. We do not have access to those logs and do not read them. Their retention is the platform's, not ours, and we do not claim to know it.

An email is an email.

If you send a correction to aliceleeeeeeeee@gmail.com, we receive whatever that message contains — your address, your text, any attachment — and it sits in an ordinary mailbox. Send only what a correction needs: the page, what changed, and where you saw it. Never send passwords, one-time codes, full card numbers or identity documents.

Once you follow a link, their rules apply.

Pages here link to airlines, railways, government bodies and other operators so you can verify facts at the source. Once you follow such a link you are on that organisation's site, under its privacy practices, not ours. We send them nothing about you.

The hosting platform serves these pages and keeps its own server logs. Our email provider receives corrections you choose to send. Google is additionally involved only when optional analytics is connected and you allow it. These providers operate under their own policies.

If this site ever adds a different kind of measurement, a form, or a subscription, this page will be updated before that feature goes live.
