Choose the smallest responsibility level that closes the failure
DIY
- Decision
- Keep the task
- Use when
- You have a complete route, checked booking requirements and an affordable fallback if it fails.
- Boundary
- First-time status and a large city count do not reverse this result.
Targeted execution
- Decision
- Buy one named responsibility
- Use when
- One day still needs transport, entrance navigation, pace control, same-day rerouting or a protected return after the itinerary has been simplified.
- Boundary
- The seller must write down the responsibility and what happens if it fails.
Full-service support
- Decision
- Transfer a continuous block
- Use when
- Mobility, group coordination, fixed events and several suppliers stay coupled across multiple cities or days.
- Boundary
- The contract must allocate each vehicle, hotel, ticket, pace decision, substitute and extra cost. The words private tour are not enough.
Worked five-city hybrid allocation
This result is for two first-time adults with ordinary mobility, a smartphone and time to plan. It changes only when the named condition changes.
| Trip segment | Completed default | When targeted execution earns consideration | Stop line |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intercity rail | DIY when 12306 passport verification and payment work; a multilingual booking channel is a channel-level fallback, not a reason to buy the whole trip. | Verification or payment is still blocked near the sale window and the alternative channel can issue the correct passenger, train and date in time. | Paid, reserved, waitlisted or processing is not issued. |
| Beijing city days | DIY for the reviewed four-day city baseline. Lock the Palace Museum date first and keep the Great Wall day separate. | Buy interpretation, entrance navigation, a vehicle, pace control or on-the-day trade-offs as one named outcome. | Do not buy a full itinerary merely because this is the first city. |
| Xi'an city days | DIY for the city route and ticket workflow; protect the return before keeping the Lintong day. | The Lintong outbound-and-return chain cannot be closed independently and the seller accepts both directions, a cutoff and a failed-return alternative in writing. | A far attraction is not, by itself, a guide requirement. |
| Chengdu city days | DIY. If Sanxingdui admission or both bus directions are not confirmed, use the completed Chengdu Museum → Du Fu Thatched Cottage fallback. | A service accepts written responsibility for admission confirmation, both transfers, the decision deadline and the fallback. | An incomplete day trip does not justify buying every Chengdu day. |
| Zhangjiajie | DIY with three available local days and ordinary mobility; the linked worked plan reserves Day 2 afternoon for the hotel transfer. With only two days, delete first: do not try to buy back an impossible schedule. | Walking, vertigo, queue tolerance, live rerouting or a fixed transfer still creates risk after deletion, and the seller owns the vehicle, pace, reroute and return in writing. | Two days, a complex map or a photography preference alone does not trigger a purchase. |
| Shanghai city days | Conditional DIY for travellers who can navigate and book independently. | Buy a named interpretation session, first-day orientation or continuous vehicle execution—not a vague language-anxiety bundle. | This page does not use a separate Shanghai guide as a live fallback; use the segment-level no-show map below. |
| Whole trip | No full-time guide by default. | Constraints stay dense across cities and one contract entity accepts itemised responsibility for vehicles, rooms, tickets, group pace, suppliers and disruption. | Five cities are not five reasons to transfer every decision. |
Information, interpretation, navigation and responsibility are different purchases
| Missing result | Product that can fill it | Default | Boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Information | Official sources and a completed route | DIY | Stop when the official source or saved route is stale or blocked; a seller's explanation does not replace a current rule. |
| Interpretation | Museum audio, site interpretation or a guide | Buy locally when context is the outcome | Interpretation does not create ticket, entrance or queue privileges. |
| Navigation | A completed route or one-day execution | DIY while the route and fallback are usable | Buy only when someone will own an entrance, transfer, pace or same-day route change. |
| Coordination | Driver, booking help or a day operator | Target the coupled day | Write who buys each ticket, confirms each transfer and pays when a substitute is needed. |
| Responsibility | A travel agency or full-service operator | Use only for persistent multi-day coupling | A licence identifies a regulated entity; it does not certify quality or prove this order was assigned correctly. |
A quote is complete only when responsibility is allocated
Use this checklist to request and assess a supplier’s written quote. No supplier has completed these checks for this page. An unanswered requirement remains unresolved; compare the seller’s reply with the evidence required below before paying.
| Field | Evidence required before payment | What does not count |
|---|---|---|
| Contract entity | Pending official lookup: require the full legal name, Travel Agency Business Licence number and Unified Social Credit Code before payment. | A brand name, social account or responsive salesperson is not the contracting entity. |
| Payment entity | Same entity, or a written and verifiable collection relationship that names who remains responsible. | A mismatch triggers a pause and evidence request; this page does not declare the contract void or fraudulent. |
| Guide | Name, guide-card number, assigning travel agency, language, daily hours, overtime and replacement conditions. | Do not request a private phone number, national ID number or guide-card image. |
| Hotels | Exact property, room type, breakfast, taxes, traveller count or occupancy and cancellation for every night. Put traveller names only inside the private contract when they are legally or operationally required. | Four-star hotel is not a completed booking, and an initial evidence request does not need room numbers or passport scans. |
| Rail or flight | Who buys it, passenger-name responsibility, fare and service fee, issuing state, change and refund owner. | Paid or reserved is not an issued ticket. |
| Local vehicle | Vehicle type, seats and luggage, driver hours, parking and tolls, night surcharge and substitute vehicle. | Private car does not describe loading, operating hours or the failure plan. |
| Admission and interpretation | Each ticket, real-name requirement, guide service, inventory failure and substitute written separately. | No official mechanism, no queue-skip premium. |
| Meals and shopping | Included meals, shopping stops, optional paid items, commissions or mandatory spend written explicitly. | Silence is not a no-shopping promise. |
| Cancellation and disruption | Traveller cancellation, supplier cancellation, weather, closure, delay, no vehicle and no guide each get a refund or substitute rule. | All inclusive does not allocate failure responsibility. |
| Emergency responsibility | Local contact, coverage hours, response target, lost-contact fallback and who pays for a substitute. | A complaint channel is not an emergency service or a refund guarantee. |
Use the official fields before payment
- Ask for the company's full legal name, Travel Agency Business Licence number and Unified Social Credit Code. The National Tourism Supervision Service Platform currently accepts a name, licence number or credit code plus a CAPTCHA. The lookup fields were checked, not a real company result.
- Ask for the guide's name, guide-card number and assigning travel agency. The Ministry guide lookup requires a name plus a guide-card number, national ID number or phone number and a CAPTCHA. Use the guide-card number; do not ask for a private ID number or phone.
- Compare the returned institution and validity fields with the contract. A record supports identity and licence facts; it does not prove service quality, this order's assignment or a queue advantage.
The lookup fields were verified on 25 August 2026. No CAPTCHA was solved, no real person or company was queried, and overseas-device or English support was not field-tested.
Six decisions that change the allocation
Two first-time adults, ordinary mobility
- Conditions
- Five cities, a smartphone, reviewed DIY routes and a wish to keep control.
- Result
- Keep rail and most city days DIY. Move no day into paid execution until a named reversal condition appears.
Assistance persists across cities
- Conditions
- Wheelchair loading, walking limits, several paces, fixed events and supplier handoffs repeat for multiple days.
- Result
- Continuous support can be rational, but the contract must name vehicle, loading, rooms, entrances, pace, substitutes and cost. Age alone is not a reason to buy a private tour.
A price and star rating, but no allocation
- Conditions
- The quote names attractions and a total but omits exact hotels, transport, shopping, cancellation and payment entity.
- Result
- Pause payment, send the evidence request and return the segment to DIY if the seller will not complete it.
Only Zhangjiajie remains hard
- Conditions
- Other cities have bounded DIY results; Zhangjiajie has a real mobility, vertigo, rerouting or fixed-return risk after deletion.
- Result
- Buy only the named Zhangjiajie execution responsibility. A short visit or a complex-looking map alone is not enough.
Four Shanghai days
- Conditions
- Ordinary navigation and booking ability; no continuous vehicle or assistance constraint.
- Result
- DIY remains the working default. Buy interpretation or orientation only if that is the result you want; do not buy an eastern-China package from language anxiety.
Guaranteed entry or priority access
- Conditions
- The seller names no current attraction mechanism and no written remedy.
- Result
- Treat the claim as unsupported marketing and assign it no premium. A guide cannot override real-name booking, security or inventory by assertion.
Three-stage service recovery
Identity or payment relationship does not close
- Trigger
- The contract entity, official record, guide identity, assigning agency or payment recipient cannot be connected in writing.
- First action
- Pause payment and request the full legal entity, licence or lookup fields and written collection relationship.
- Alternative
- Use a channel that exposes the supplier, cancellation and support, or return the segment to DIY.
- Escalation
- Stop the transaction while the mismatch remains. A lookup result proves identity fields, not quality.
No guide, no vehicle or no access mechanism
- Trigger
- Nobody arrives, or the promised priority route does not exist at the site.
- First action
- Preserve the contract, payment, chat, time, place and current service state; request a written substitute and cost treatment.
- Alternative
- Use the no-show map below. Protect the next issued transfer first, then keep the named low-coupling alternative and drop the remote or unconfirmed task.
- Escalation
- When safe, use platform support or the tourism complaint route that fits the facts. Do not use a complaint form for immediate danger.
Delivery differs from contract
- Trigger
- Items disappear, unagreed shopping or charges appear, or a key service is replaced without consent.
- First action
- Protect personal safety, record the exact difference and request a written explanation before any new unagreed payment.
- Alternative
- Keep an actual-versus-promised list and use the independent fallback for the rest of the day.
- Escalation
- Choose one main channel by the dispute: tourism performance normally starts with the tourism complaint route; an ordinary market-regulation consumer dispute may fit 12315. Neither guarantees a refund.
No-show fallback map: protect the trip without a second search
Use the row for the failed segment. These are deliberately smaller than the original paid day: they preserve the next fixed booking and avoid creating a new high-friction task.
| Failed segment | Protect first | Use now | Drop now |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intercity rail | The exact issued train and the following hotel night. | Leave for the station printed on the issued ticket using the route already saved on your phone or a licensed taxi. Contact the issuing channel only if the ticket itself has a problem. | Do not wait past your own departure cutoff or accept a different train without a newly issued ticket. |
| Beijing | The next issued transfer and only a central booking whose entrance and route are already saved. | Drop the remote Great Wall day. Set the destination to 王府井步行街 (Wangfujing Pedestrian Street), which the Beijing municipal visitor page lists at Wangfujing Station with free admission. Keep the day in this central public-street area and return before the next fixed event. | Do not improvise a remote attraction, replacement vehicle or unissued Palace Museum visit. |
| Xi'an | The onward rail ticket and hotel checkout. | Drop Lintong. Set the destination to 西安钟楼 (Xi'an Bell Tower), then keep the day at street level around the Bell Tower, Drum Tower and nearby Muslim Quarter before the rail cutoff. Street level does not include tower entry and does not mean the interiors are free or reservation-free. | Do not start the Lintong trip without both the outbound and return already closed. |
| Chengdu | The following transfer and the city-day reservation cutoff. | Use the published Chengdu recovery: try Chengdu Museum first; if it is still unconfirmed at the page's stop time, move Du Fu Thatched Cottage earlier instead of waiting for the missing vehicle. → | Do not turn the no-show into an unbooked Sanxingdui or Leshan rescue. |
| Zhangjiajie | One attraction only when its live ticket or reservation, entrance, route, time and return chain all match, plus the next fixed transfer. | Use one single confirmed attraction only when its live ticket or reservation matches the saved entrance, route and time, current official operations permit entry, and the return chain is saved; otherwise stay downtown and protect the next hotel or rail booking. | Do not stack Wulingyuan, Tianmen Mountain and Grand Canyon to compensate for the failure. |
| Shanghai | The next issued transfer and any already-issued timed entry. | Set the destination to 南京东路步行街 (East Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street). The Shanghai municipal visitor page lists the pedestrian street as open 24/7, and a separate municipal tourism route places East Nanjing Road before the Bund. Stay on the public street, add the Bund only if time, weather and local controls allow, then return before the next fixed event. | Do not invent a paid-entry or remote substitute; this page does not rely on a separate Shanghai route as the recovery. |
The Beijing, Xi'an, Zhangjiajie and Shanghai fallback rows were checked directly against the municipal or provincial sources listed below. Public-street wording does not promise that private interiors are free, open or reservation-free. Recheck weather, local controls, operating notices and the saved return before leaving the hotel.
The current Tourism Complaint Handling Measures took effect on 15 March 2026. A complaint generally needs a direct interest, a named respondent, a specific request and facts, and may be rejected after 90 days from the end of contract performance. The two-business-day acceptance decision and 60-day mediation framework are not refund deadlines. Do not submit the same dispute indiscriminately to multiple authorities.
Send one evidence request before paying
Copy this message into the seller's established private contract or account channel; this site does not collect the reply. Do not post the request or reply publicly.
Before I pay, please reply in writing with: your full legal company name, Travel Agency Business Licence number and Unified Social Credit Code; the payment recipient and its written relationship to the contract entity; the guide's name, guide-card number, assigning agency, language, daily hours, overtime and substitute rule; each exact hotel property, room type, traveller count, breakfast, taxes and cancellation terms; issued transport; vehicle and luggage capacity; each ticket and interpretation service; shopping and optional paid items; cancellation, closure, no-show and replacement rules; and the local contact and lost-contact fallback. If the final guide is not yet assigned, please state the latest date when you will provide the guide-card number and assigning agency. For no guide, no vehicle, venue closure or ticket failure, please state the refund or substitute and who pays any replacement cost. If traveller legal names later become necessary, I will provide them only inside the established private contract channel. I will not include room numbers, full passport scans, bank or card data, my private ID or phone, or the guide's national ID, private phone or guide-card image in this pre-payment request.
If one high-friction day closes, buy that day. If the evidence does not close, do not pay for a vague sense of safety.
Common questions
Do first-time visitors need a private guide in China?
No. First-time status alone does not make a full private tour worthwhile. Keep tasks with a complete route and recoverable failure as DIY; buy only the named execution responsibility that remains difficult after simplification.
When is a private guide worth paying for?
Consider targeted execution when one day still needs someone to own transport, entrance navigation, pace, live rerouting or a protected return. Consider multi-day support only when those responsibilities remain coupled across several days.
Does a licensed guide guarantee good service or entry?
No. The official lookup can support identity, institution, language and validity fields. It does not certify quality, prove this order was assigned correctly or create ticket, queue or security privileges.
What should I ask for before paying a China tour company?
Ask for the full legal company name, travel-agency licence number, Unified Social Credit Code, guide name and guide-card number, assigning agency, exact hotels and transport, every inclusion and paid extra, cancellation and substitute rules, payment recipient and written collection relationship.
Where do I complain if a tour service differs from the contract?
Choose the channel that fits the facts instead of submitting everywhere. Travel-agency or guide performance usually starts with the tourism complaint route; an ordinary market-regulation consumer dispute may fit 12315. Neither route guarantees acceptance or a refund.
Sources, freshness and boundaries
Regulatory and platform fields checked 25 August 2026; check the current lookup and complaint interfaces when using them. City and transport conclusions inherit their own earlier review dates and must be refreshed when their conditions change. This is decision support, not legal advice, transaction handling or supplier certification.
