For a China Eastern-operated domestic economy flight, the current table allows one cabin piece and one extra under-seat personal item. The checked allowance is a 20 kg total under the weight system. The exact ticket and operating carrier still control.

- The dimensions pass but the economy cabin-piece weight does not. Repack before check-in.
Two checked bags weighing 12 kg + 8 kg
- Result
- The current domestic economy allowance is a 20 kg weight-system total; each piece must also pass the physical limits. Confirm the exact ticket.
Checked total 24 kg with a 20 kg allowance
- Result
- Four kilograms are excess. The fee needs the airline’s highest published one-way direct adult economy fare for that date, not your discounted ticket price.
MU flight number but another operating carrier
- Result
- Use the operating carrier and exact ticket. Do not transfer this China Eastern-operated-flight result to a codeshare automatically.
Domestic excess baggage is not priced from your cheap ticket
The current formula is (checked total − free allowance) × 1.5% × H, where H is the highest published one-way direct adult economy fare applicable that day. China Eastern’s English excess-fee page says to round up, while the Chinese transport conditions effective 1 July 2026 say to round to the nearest whole CNY and state that Chinese controls when the texts conflict. This page therefore uses nearest-whole CNY for planning; the carrier’s exact quote controls payment.

CNY 1,000 and CNY 1,500 are calculation inputs, not fares observed for Beijing–Xi’an or another route. Ask China Eastern for H or the exact excess quote before depending on a total.
A domestic booking after arrival is a separate transfer problem
If the China Eastern flight follows an international Air China ticket, the baggage table answers only what the domestic flight accepts. It does not prove through-check, the collection point, entry eligibility, terminal transfer or sufficient connection time. Unless both airlines confirm the full handling in writing, plan around collecting the bag and completing the domestic check-in again.
