Is a folding chair an acceptable way to rest in Chengdu?
Plan to bring a compact folding chair if it suits your mother’s need for frequent seated rests. Use it at the side of a wide space, keep passages clear and fold it before moving through crowds. Ask staff where it can be used: one venue’s permission does not apply to every park, shop, security queue or protected area.

If staff cannot permit it at that spot, use an existing seat or rest area, shorten the visit or return to the car. Choose a stable aid suited to her support and transfer needs; a camping chair or a venue’s generic wheelchair is not automatically a suitable medical aid.
Can we rely on shops or attractions for a wheelchair?
Yes—some venues provide wheelchairs. Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum publishes a free wheelchair loan with a refundable deposit and specific borrowing rules below. Do not assume every shop or attraction has chairs, or that a venue chair can be taken between your hotel, streets and other attractions. Use this service for a visit to the museum; longer days need their own suitable aid or a shorter plan.

If you need a chair between venues
- If a chair is essential between venues, arrange a personally suitable aid before committing to long outings. Bringing your own or an arranged hire from your departure location avoids depending on an unconfirmed Chengdu shop; transport acceptance and fit still depend on the actual aid.
- For a later Chengdu supplier offer, accept it only when the named supplier confirms your dates, the actual model/load/seat needs, full-day or overnight/off-site use, hotel delivery or collection point, total rent and delivery charge, deposit/payment route, return collection/deadline and the deposit-release/loss terms. A hotel enquiry by itself is not a rental reservation.
- On collection, compare the offered model with the agreement and check brakes, footrests, condition and safe fit before paying or leaving. Keep the rental receipt and recorded return instructions. Do not accept a substitute that your mother cannot safely use.
- If the full-day arrangement is unavailable, split the itinerary: a short supported venue visit, a seated meal, then taxi back to the hotel. Keep a known return point and omit the long street/park outing. Do not use an airport or museum loan as an assumed city rental.
