Why the page switches at 21:30
Published airport-line last trains run later, but a late airport-line train is not proof that the later Line 5 connection will still work. The 21:30 rule is a conservative no-data safety buffer, not a published last-train time. Recheck live service for the exact date; if the complete chain is uncertain, take the official taxi rather than planning an extreme final connection.
What the 24/7 taxi fallback does and does not prove
Beijing's English airport transport guide describes official airport taxi service as 24/7. PEK and PKX publish the official queue locations and metered charging structure. This supports an overnight fallback, but not a fixed Park Plaza price, no waiting, English service or guaranteed change. Distance beyond 15 kilometres, 23:00–05:00 night charges, low-speed waiting and tolls can change the final amount; ask for the meter and receipt.
The no-phone fallback needs a physical payment route
Beijing says five named card networks can tap across the operating rail network, including the airport lines, but the issuer and credential can still reject. Ask a staffed counter for a ticket after one deliberate failure. Keep a second card and RMB separate from the phone. If no card, RMB or exchangeable cash works at PKX, eligible independent international or regional arrivals can show arrival boarding proof and register for a conditional free bus voucher at Beijing Service outside international or regional baggage claim through 31 Oct 2026. Confirm the route and departure at the 1F bus counter near Gate 20. The free-voucher service is available 02:00–23:00 and is first-come; the bus does not solve the last leg to this hotel. Without a complete onward route and payment plan, remain with airport staff and ask the airport, airline or hotel for help.
The final walk from Dengshikou is still a field-test gap

How long does the route take from baggage claim?
