For the Brunei–Hong Kong–Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong–Brunei route, count one Mainland entry and one Mainland exit. These are two border-inspection events, not a guarantee of two passport stamps or two blank pages.

Brunei–Hong Kong–Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong–Brunei with limited pages

This event count assumes you enter Hong Kong as a visitor on both visits, stay within Mainland China between Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and make no extra border crossings. If your first Hong Kong stop is entirely airside, that is a different route. Starting in Brunei does not tell us your passport nationality or whether you are a citizen, resident or visitor there.

Brunei → Hong Kong

Hong Kong → Guangzhou

Guangzhou → Shenzhen, staying in Mainland China

• Passport-space result: Changing cities on this domestic leg does not add an entry or exit border event.

Shenzhen → Hong Kong

• Passport-space result: Hong Kong normally issues a second landing slip. The Mainland exit examination is a separate event.

Hong Kong → Brunei

• Passport-space result: Hong Kong normally does not stamp departure. Your Brunei return eligibility and passport-space requirements still need confirmation.

The route gives a useful count of border events, not a guaranteed page count. Your total stamps and minimum usable pages remain unknown: we do not have your passport type, nationality, expiry date, remaining whole visa pages, immigration permissions or exact ports. Hong Kong can stamp a passport in exceptional circumstances. Its visa or entry-permit labels, when that application channel applies, also need a blank visa page; normal non-stamping is not a promise that every visitor needs no blank page.

If your passport is nearly full

1. Write down the issuing country and document type, expiry date, number of completely blank visa pages, remaining partial spaces, existing visas or residence permissions, dates and actual crossing ports. Count whole pages separately from gaps beside old stamps.
2. Ask your passport issuer whether renewal is needed and how a replacement affects existing visas or permits. Ask the relevant immigration authority and actual carrier whether the described document meets their requirements. There is no universal page number established for this unidentified traveller.
3. If the document cannot meet a confirmed requirement, renew it or adjust the journey before travel. Do not plan on an officer finding a spare corner. An enquiry answer is not advance permission to enter.

Keep your Hong Kong landing slip

Keep the slip with your passport while in Hong Kong and check its permitted-stay limit. Loss normally does not prevent departure. UK traveller on a claimed 30-day visa-free stay, Shenzhen North to Hong Kong

Your passport is used for two different jobs: railway identity/ticket verification at Shenzhen North, and immigration checks after arrival at West Kowloon. A railway check or a valid ticket does not grant immigration permission. This answer does not verify your claimed 30-day Mainland visa-free basis or guarantee Hong Kong admission.

1. At Shenzhen North, carry the original passport matching the booking. Complete railway identity/ticket checks and follow the station’s security and boarding instructions. If a gate cannot read your passport, ask railway staff for the staffed checking lane; do not skip the check.
2. At Hong Kong West Kowloon, leave the train on the platform on Level B4 and follow the arrival signs to Level B2. Complete Mainland departure first and Hong Kong arrival next, as separate immigration checks on the arrival level.
3. Follow the officers’ directions to the appropriate passport/visitor counter. If you have not confirmed automated-channel eligibility, ask for the staffed route. Hong Kong visitor e-channel enrolment has conditions; a UK passport or railway QR code alone does not establish eligibility for either immigration authority’s automated channel.
4. After Hong Kong admission, check and retain your landing slip and proceed to the railway exit gates using the ticket identity document. Keep the transport and accommodation records relevant to your trip available for questions.

MTR’s current arrival pages show the Mainland railway checks and West Kowloon B4/B2 route. The separately linked 2017 Hong Kong Government explanation specifies Mainland exit before Hong Kong entry; it is historical explanatory evidence corroborated by the current MTR arrangement, not a new 2026 announcement.

If the ticket or crossing goes wrong

• Wrong name/number or a replaced passport: contact the original seller or a staffed railway counter before travel. MTR says the ticket name and identification number cannot be directly changed. Ask which permitted refund/rebooking or other documented solution applies and obtain a valid booking matching your usable passport; do not assume a free correction or universal replacement-passport exception.
• Missed train or no remaining usable departure: take the passport and booking/order number to railway staff or the original seller. Ask whether this booking can still be changed and what valid service is available. Mainland-station alteration deadlines depend on local arrangements. Do not board another train on the old ticket or assume a refund; if no valid service remains, arrange the next lawful travel and accommodation option on the side where you may stay.
• Hong Kong entry questioned or refused: stay with the immigration process, answer the questions and present requested supporting records. Ask the officer and station staff what permitted next step or return arrangement applies. An immediate return train, automatic Mainland readmission, a new Mainland stay or a refund has not been established for this situation.

Do not copy the southbound sequence onto the northbound journey. West Kowloon departures use railway checks on B1 and both immigration procedures in the B3 departure hall before boarding.
